Albert Amante, Certified Athletic Therapist, BKin-AT
Albert earned his Bachelor of Kinesiology - Athletic Therapy with Distinction at the University of Manitoba in 2014, and certified as an Athletic Therapist in the same year. He has continued to treat in the clinic over the years, while being a part of the organizations management team. He has attended workshops including that of Dr. Stuart McGill's, courses such as the Mulligan Concept, Rockblades IASTM, and regularly attends the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association Conference and the National Athletic Trainer's Association Conference. He continues to broaden his knowledge in Athletic Therapy and the world of orthopaedic bracing and medical supplies. Albert enjoys recreational activities such as volleyball, softball, fishing, and long walks in the summer!
Felicia Borges, Certified Athletic Therapist
Felicia graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a specialization in Athletic Therapy degree in June 2021 from the University of Winnipeg. She became certified in December 2021. During her studies she worked with university volleyball and futsal athletes, as well as, high school hockey teams within the CSSHL. She also had the privilege of learning from and working alongside certified Athletic Therapists in various Winnipeg clinics during her practicum placements. When she is not at IMS, Felicia enjoys her rewarding work as a Direct Support Worker. In her spare time, Felicia loves playing and coaching volleyball in recreationl leagues within the city. She is passionate about helping people and is eager to help you meet your physical health goals.
Paul Lubi, CAT(C), BKin-AT,
Paul Lubi is a Certified Athletic Therapist who graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Kinesiology majoring in Athletic Therapy in 2018. Paul challenged the National CATA exam and certified as an Athletic Therapist later in the same year. Throughout his university career, Paul has garnered over 1200 hours of clinical and field experience through his practicums with a variety of clinics across the city and at the university, university-level sports teams as well as high-school level sports teams mainly consisting of football, basketball, and soccer. Paul is a determined, motivated, and driven individual who is passionate about helping his patients overcome their diagnosis in order to help instill patient confidence, robustness, and resiliency needed to return to activities of daily living and return to sport. Aside from the clinic, Paul enjoys working the field during the spring and summer seasons with sporting events and tournaments. Paul’s hobbies include travelling, motorcycles, cars, basketball, and spending quality time with friends and family.
Cristine Pineda, CAT(C), BKin-AT
Cristine Pineda is a multilingual Certified Athletic Therapist, primarily speaking in English and Tagalog. She is a 2016 University of Manitoba graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and Recreation Management specializing in Athletic Therapy. In the same year, she was able to certify as an Athletic Therapist. During her time as a student at the University of Manitoba she worked with several Bison sports teams, including the men’s volleyball team, and then serving as the head athletic therapist, as a certification candidate, for the University of Manitoba Bisons women’s basketball team. In the community, she has worked with numerous athletes and teams participating in a variety of different sports such as high school basketball, tennis, and community and beach volleyball.
K. Jill Reimer, CAT(C), BSc.
Jill is a Certified Athletic Therapist who graduated from the University of Winnipeg with her Bachelor of Science in 2018. Jill loves working with patients in different aspects, whether it is in the clinic or in the field setting where she works with different teams. She has had the privilege of providing athletic therapy with Murdoch MacKay high school football, the U16 and U18 Provincial football teams as well as with the Winnipeg Rifles Junior football club. She is currently trying something new and loving working with the St. Vital Victoria’s Junior hockey team. Jill has had the privilege to learn from excellent Athletic Therapists and is excited to apply her knowledge and skill towards the healing journey of her patients.
Shelley Umali, BMR(PT)
Physiotherapist
Certified in Acupuncture
Shelley Umali received her Bachelor in Physical Therapy from the University of Manitoba in 2007. She also pursued her certification in Acupuncture in 2009. Shelley has 16 years of experience working in a private practice setting. She has taken numerous post-graduate courses related to rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries and conditions including running courses, post-op shoulder/knee/hip/ACL rehabilitation, taping, dry-needling and cupping to just name a few.
After thorough assessment, Shelley treats her clients and their needs using manual therapy, soft-tissue manipulation, individualized therapeutic exercises and pain modulation techniques. Her main goal with her clients is to build a relationship where both are keeping the goal of function and strength, overall well-being and accountability in mind.
Shelley also dedicates her time mentoring future physiotherapists enrolled in the Masters of Physiotherapy program at the University of Manitoba and Exam Candidates awaiting full licensing with the College of Physiotherapists of Manitoba.
Shelley devotes her time outside of the clinic to her husband and two children. She enjoys travelling, spinning, spending time with her large extended family and has a passion for cooking all types of cuisine.
John Estacio, Logistics Coordinator
John has a Bachelor of Science, major in Psychology degree. He has an extensive background in logistics in various fields from warehouse supervisor in the safety equipments and supplies, from medical field to material controller, stores clerk, even in the aerospace aviation sector.
He can proudly say he has fulfilled his dream of serving and joining the Canadian Forces Army. He has an empathy to help and serve the community in any way possible. He hopes that the skills he's learned along the way can best support IMS in their work to help serve the community.
